When going on a pick, do your homework first. Research the area, the city, when was the city established. This will help with potential items in that area. Was there a pottery or glass factory in the area years ago, etc? Then research Ebay, Collector's Weekly, and Google for these items and what they are selling for...this doesn't mean you will get this price. As you know, Fenton as an example, has many colors, styles, types and lots of sellers. Find rare pieces and research those. Make notes. This will allow you to be more aware of what is selling and also will give you an idea of the price you are willing to pay.
Do your homework-it will pay off at the end of the day.

Houze Lamps
I was fortunate a few weeks ago to come across a group of Antique and Vintage Lamps which, of course, I purchased on the spot. One lamp in particular is a Houze Lamp with a Slag Glass and Wood Base which is an unusual find. It isn't working due to its age and some cosmetic work needed but it would make a beautiful addition to any room. Houze is well known for its Slag Glass Lamps and it's a rare find to have one with the glass intact and unbroken.
Houze began in PA in the early 1900s and made various types of lamps. Houze lamps are highly coveted by owners as they are well made and exemplify quality craftmanship rarely seen today. This Slag Glass Houze Lamp not only comes from the Houze Lamp Company but also shows the craftmanship of the Akro Agate Marble Company in which the glass was made.
